2019: February Goals and Mantras

It has been awhile since I have blogged some of my goals. February seems like a good month to start it up again. I also picked a word for my year. I haven't really blogged so I hadn't mentioned that.

2019's word is evolve. I picked this word because it represents my current self becoming my best self. I am evolving everyday and it is a great word to focus on.

Goals I have for this month are pretty simple:

Self - Love: February is a month for love so why not love on yourself?  You need to love yourself before you can properly love another. I am getting better at this, but it will always be an ongoing goal for me.

Journal: I bought a new journal this year and I really love it. I have written pretty regularly so I need to keep it up.

Blog: I love to write. The journal helps with this, but I need to come here and scratch that itch as well. I love community and writing here helps me build that.

Find a hobby: I need something new to do to help me get out of my current rut. Not sure what that will be yet, but I wold love to hear your ideas!

Nothing too deep here, but I have decided to keep my goals light and fun this year. We already live in a hard and stressful world, why make our lives like that too with difficult goals?

Some mantras that have been a part of my everyday life are all about becoming and staying true to myself. I am loving these:

What are your goals for February?

Welcome February!

Oh hey February. Month of love, friendship, and heart health. Also the month I am officially into my third trimester of pregnancy. Lot's going on and some days I have no idea where to begin!

So this is probably going to be more of a goal/update post. Goals have been a little different for me lately.

So let me start off by first sharing some exiting news. I have been holding on to this info for quite awhile because I wanted to wait until I had my 20 week anatomy scan to reveal the gender of the little bloob.

I have known what I was having since I was 13 weeks due to my age and having genetic testing done. I still preferred to wait and tell the world what baby bloob was until we had it confirmed with ultrasound.

I am happy to announce, that I am carrying a bouncing baby boy!

I keep saying I need to do an update on the baby, and I will. It is halfway done being written.

So my main goal for this month is to continue eating healthy, getting exercise, and listening to my body as little bloob gets bigger and bigger.

Blogging goals have still been pretty low on my list due to the fact that I am working all day staring at my computer and sitting in my office chair is becoming more and more uncomfortable, so by the time I am done working for the day, I have no desire to want to do anything else screen related. I do need to try and pick a day to just work on blog stuff. Hopefully I figure that out soon.

I recently splurged on a new planner for 2018. I have yet to really sit down and use it. This is my downfall with planners. I love them, but then never use them and I feel bad about it. A goal I have for this month is to pull it out on Sunday's and plan out my week.

With the baby on the way, I need to start getting myself in the habit of writing stuff down. My appointments for the baby are starting to get more regular and I need to keep everything in order so I am not double booking anywhere.

Wish me luck!

The last thing on my mind lately is to be more social. Since I work from home and it has become winter, I rarely leave my house. That is not really the best option, specifically because I need the exercise and I miss seeing people other than just my husband.

I am not a winter person at all, and we have been getting pretty regular snow fall so that just deters me more from wanting to venture out into the world. I am going to make it a goal to get out at least 2 times a week and interact with friends.

That about wraps it up for what I am working on for the month. What is on your list?

Setting Some Goals: December 2017

It feels so weird to type December. How in the world did we get to December already?

I haven't had many goals lately, specifically with this blog, so I thought it was a good time to set a few. Life really started moving when I found out I was expecting!

I have fought with myself off and on whether I wanted to keep this blog or let it go for a bit. I have definitely cut down on posting, but in the end I am not ready to stop blogging. I want to talk about all kinds of stuff and read what everyone else is doing.

Today I am setting a couple of goals. Specifically heavy on the blogging ones.

Blog at least 1 time per week - I used to commit to 3 days a week. That has definitely not been happening. I want to show up at minimum once a week. If more, it's a bonus!

Twitter - I deleted Twitter off my phone months ago and since doing that, I rarely go on. I logged in randomly this week and had questions about my tea swap, which sadly I will not be hosting this year. I need to get back to it.

Connecting - I work from home. I don't feel like I connect much with the world anymore being at home so often.  I need to make new connections, whether it be online or in real life. Who wants to be friends?!

Planning ahead: I have always been a procrastinator. It's in my blood. I need to get better at planning ahead, both blog and personal. I have a little one on the way and I know my time is going to get much more limited than it already seems to be.

Meditating: I have fallen off the mediation wagon. I miss it and need to allow myself that quiet time and space every day for me. I am going to start doing it first thing when the house is quiet and I can get some peace to myself.

I think these are some pretty good goals for me at the moment. I'm taking it one day at a time and trying to do it all. I know I can't, but tell that to my ego.

I will be posting a few things over the next few weeks that are surprisingly already planned. Some baby updates, Christmas stuff, and got only knows what else!

See you soon and I hope you have a fabulous December :D

July Mantras and Goals

I never set up any goals for June. June came at me strong and quick, and quickly showed me what it was like to burnout. I started out the month feeling ready to conquer everything, but I was quickly knocked down by exhaustion and doubt.

I am feeling better for July, so I am setting some mantras/goals that will remind me that I got this.

Setting intentions - I am going to set an intention for each new day. They will all plug into my over all intention of being strong and moving forward in my life.

Meditate - I was recently told this is the way to heal some of my doubts and seeing how it is one of the hardest things for me to concentrate on I am starting to believe I need to spend more time on it.

Journal - When I write, I feel free, but for some reason I do not do it as much as I should. I am going to spend more time writing stuff down and working through it on paper.

Yoga - Yes I know I am teaching it, but I am not doing as much of my own practice lately so I need to really spend some time with it to mediate and then journal after.

Are we seeing a trend here?

I don't think I can be successful until I have myself back in order.

What are you working on this month?

Namaste.

Why You Should Invest in Webinars

How many goals in life have you made, but felt you would NEVER meet them so you either give them up or stop working on them? We probably all are guilty of this. I know I am definitely guilty of this. Today I want to talk to you a little bit about webinars and why they are super important to achieving goals.

I have a marketing degree and have worked in operations and fundraising and have found webinars and online courses VERY resourceful for my building blocks in these positions. We can always learn more. It is always great to take courses in subjects we already feel we are experts at. That statement is bolded for a reason.

Imagine you thought you knew it all, and then someone came in and gave you a perspective you didn't think to look in.  Mind blown right? Every person comes to the table with a different and new to you perspective. Remember, this is because we ALL come from different walks of life. We all have experienced different recipes, if you may.

We are all a custom recipe that is nearly impossible to duplicate. We can teach people a specific topic and duplicate it over and over again, but we can never teach someone to think exactly like us. Trust me when I say, you will learn something from every person who teaches something. That lesson may even be, you don't want to be anything like them. That's actually a very important lesson.

Always be you. But apply what you learn in your way. This week I am starting another webinar course to help me achieve some of my goals. It excites me when I find one that I know will help me. I don't mind spending the money to get the resources I need to build my brand and achieve my goals. I have always love that "back to school" feeling and am glad I can do that on my terms on my time right here on the internet.

There are literally hundreds of thousands of places to find and take webinars. A lot of times you can find free ones that will give you the basics to the in depth paid course. Sometimes the freebies are enough, but sometimes they spark something in you that makes you want to take the full course. The free webinars are also a great way to see if you will like the teacher and how they present their content.

Last night I did exactly this. I watched a free webinar and ended up loving it. I decided to take the plunge and sign up for the full course. Often in these free webinars, there is an offer at the end to save on the course. You will get a discount for taking a chance on the free webinar. It's pretty amazing.

So I'm interested in knowing.. do you use webinars and online courses? Have you found success in them? Share your experiences with me!

Hey hey, it's May!

So this weeks 5 day goals are being repeated from last week as, this is my last week before I complete my classes for yoga, so I am going to continue to focus on that rather than add in another goal to drive me over the edge. For that reason, I am not spending too much time on talking about those goals this week.

I do however want to touch on the fact that it is MAY folks. How in the world did we make it 4 full months already of this year? It is just flying! I am trying to not focus on month long goals this year, as they tend to stress me out more than they are worth and I am focusing more on my short terms goals at the moment, but because so many things are happening this month, I do want to focus a bit on setting up some longer term goals that I want to start this month.

As you all know (I mean I mention it pretty regularly! Oops!), I am going to be certified in yoga teaching this month. I am going to start working on a plan to use my training to its best capability and help anyone I can feel comfortable in their bodies as well as feeling healthier, one breath at a time.

I am going to start focusing more on my plan and set up some pretty personal goals for myself along the way. I tend to get excited about ideas and then let them drop when it gets hard. I feel like this is pretty common for a lot of people in general. When the going gets touch, we quit. I can't let that happen this time. I need to work through the hard.

I think I am going to spend my weeks listening to TED talks and Podcasts. Do you have any recommendations for me?

I am also going to continue writing every morning. It has been refreshing so far and really helps getting my thoughts out there.

I also forgot to mention that a friend gifted me a juicer last week and I used it for the first time yesterday and it is pretty freaking amazing! I love the fresh juice while I am writing and relaxing.

I think these things will help me stay on track this month. I am NOT going to give up! I am also excited to write about my date night that happened this weekend. That should show up this coming week at some point. I even took photos! *Pats myself on the back*

What are you working on this month? Anything big? Getting ready for summer? Talk to me!

5 day Goal Challenge: Vol 6 + Weekend Update

I am totally slacking on my Sunday updates ya'll.. Let me just whip myself in shape real quick.. So this past weeks goals were to be better attentive to blogging comments. That meant replying to my own comments, as well as commenting on other blogs. I think I nailed this one. I had a little drawback when Disqus was not letting me moderate my comments and I was panicked. I then realized I could moderate from my emails on my phone. Problem solved!

So for this week, I have to choose something because it needs to get done, not because I want it to get done. I need to practice yoga EVERY. DAMN. DAY. I graduate in 2 weeks and have 3 weeks until my class I need to teach to get my certification. AHH! It came so quick! So you may not see me as much this week as I NEED to make this a priority and get it done.

I am doing a little side goal of food I consume this week. I need to get back to a better diet. My body really hates most foods right now. I know what they are and I continue to eat them. So, it's also a kind of need goal, rather than want goal. It needs to happen. I'm tired of feeling icky.

Okay on to other topics.. I finally got to visit with my parents this weekend. I have not seen them since early February. They got a new puppy in January. We visited to see him. He has gotten so big since then! He was also less scared of us which was nice. It was a beautiful day yesterday. Not a cloud in the sky. I didn't want it to ever end!

Alas, here we are. Monday again. Back to the grind. I am happy the sun is shining. I need to take some photos today for my Stitch Fix that arrived on Saturday. So many pretty things! I am glad it is sunny so I can get that done.

I hope you all have a wonderful week!

5 day Goal Challenge: Vol 5 + Weekend Update

Soooo.. This should of gone up yesterday, but it was Easter and I was having the best day ever, so I kind of slacked off about being on the interwebs. But you know what? I don't regret it at all. It was a day of pure bliss for me, and I can't apologize for that. So let me talk about my goals real quick and then I will tell you all about my amazing weekend.

For those of you who are new, I am working on 5 day goals to reach bigger goals. Sometimes long term goals can be tricky and you need to get little things in order before you get there. Each week I share my challenge and then normally report back here on Sunday to let you know how it went. I invite you all to join me on this goals. We can support each other as we go!

Last week I challenged myself to get outside every day. Even if it was just 5 minutes. I am happy to report that I made it outside and enjoyed wayyyyy more time than 5 minutes. It was glorious to feel the sun on my face. The warmth of the sun brought me comfort. I just really loved connecting to the Earth. This is something I need to continue to do to keep my well being strong and happy.

Now for this week, I am going to focus on blogging goals. I am going to be more attentive to my comments and commenting on other blogs. I kind of lost that aspect this past week. It was not because I was ignoring anyone, I just got lost in the beauty of disconnecting. The other part was work was super busy and I had no chances like I usually do to read during work hours.

--------------------------------------

Now onto my weekend.. I had Good Friday off and I spent the day catching up on yoga reading, basking in the sun while my cats frolicked outside, and just enjoying Spring in all of it's glory. I also had a meeting about a potential business opportunity. More on that later as things unfold.

Saturday I spent the whole day with my yoga family. I always love these weekends. I am surrounded by love and positivity. I had many breakthroughs and even shed some tears. I felt so loved and supported as I was able to share some of my darkest regrets and secrets. I was able to let them go knowing I was forgiven by these wonderful people.

Easter Sunday was amazing for me. We had a later start for yoga, due to the holiday. I had breakfast with my love out on our deck in the sunshine. We cleaned up the house a bit, making it feel so warm and cozy. I took a walk to enjoy the nice weather. I went into yoga where I taught an impromptu 30 minute yoga set to a classmate in which I felt very confident with, which is all so new to me.

I had a vision of what I wanted to do with my yoga once I graduate. I am so excited about my plan and again as things unfold I will share it all with you guys! I am just so excited for everything that has been shown to me during this journey. I cannot say it enough. It is so refreshing and pure.

I hope you all had an amazing weekend and I would love to hear about your goals if you are following along with me! Happy Monday!

5 Day Goal Challenge: Vol. 4

Another week down, another week of challenges. Last week I said I was going to up my water intake again, since I didn't do so well on my first challenge. I am happy to report that I met my water in take and I feel great. I got back into some physical activity. I am feeling stronger.

Now onto this coming week. I had to really think about what I wanted to accomplish this week. There has been so much going on that it makes it tough to stick to one thing. This week I am going to spend time outside everyday. It is supposed to be really nice out and with working from home I don't get out as much as I used to.

The sunshine will be nice.

What do you plan to do this week?

5 Day Goal Challenge: Vol. 2

I am going to start posting this challenge on Sunday's so the goal is set and ready to go for Monday mornings. For those of you new to the 5 Day Goal Challenge, it is a small goal set to help you reach your larger goals. Reading my intro post will give you a better idea of what I believe the purpose is for smaller goals.

For last week I challenged myself to drink 80 ounces of water a day. I can honestly say I don't know why I challenged myself this much water, as I did not meet that goal each day until Thursday and Friday. I did however up my water intake quite a bit, so I call that a win.

Part of me wonders if by upping my water intake set things in motion to my kidney stone episode. On Thursday at about 6pm I was laying down watching TV when I got this sudden urinary track infection feeling, that sudden urge. You know what I mean. So off to the bathroom I went. I suddenly had the most awful cramp and pain in my left side.

I immediately went to lay down in bed. It just got worse. I called my husband and told him he needed to get home immediately. I needed medical attention. By 9:30pm I was diagnosed with a kidney stone that was travelling through my system. I had a partial blockage which was what brought on the pain so quickly.

I have really upped my water intake through the weekend to help flush that baby out. As of now it still has not come out, but I am hopeful that will be soon.

So for this coming week, my goal is going to be pretty chill. I had originally planned to get to the gym 5 days this week, but that isn't happening until I am all better from this fun experience I've been going through.

I am thinking this week I am going to write letters to all my friends. One letter a day. I have been wanting to get back into writing actual meaningful letters to all my friends whom I don't see on a regular basis. This might be the perfect week to get that done. Not a lot of effort required to do that.

What goals are you setting in motion this week? Will you join me in taking this 5 day challenge?

5 Day Goals - Intro

Sometimes forming habits take time. It doesn't happen overnight. When life gets busy and you have a million things going on (hello yoga teacher training classes, work, and family) you may get even further behind on forming habits or getting back on track to your goals.

Because we all have long term goals we are working towards that may take months or even years, I figured I was going to implement short term goals that will help me reach those long term goals. Little things to remind you of what you want and who you are at the end of the day.

These 5 day challenges may reguire me to do something new each day or reguire me to work on something through out the 5 days to achieve a small goal.

Because I decided March was going to be a month of challenges, I figured this would be the perfect time to implement this. This first week I am challenging myself to get dressed every day. Let me clarify.

I am now working from home. I get to work in my pajamas if I want to, and let's just say I have taken that to the extreme. I get out of bed, throw on my robe, throw my hair up in a messy blob and get to work.

It's really easy to forget who you are this way. I have all of these cute clothes (hello new Stich Fix clothes!) and I am living in my sweats and t-shirts. Not to say this isn't nice once in awhile, but seriously, what's the point of buying cute clothes if I don't wear them regularly?

Starting today, I am fully dressed. I have on real pants, a top, my hair is brushed, and hey I even put on some makeup. Stop back Sunday to see pictures of my 5 days of outfits.

This is helping me reach my long term goals of being a successful #girlboss. It makes me feel better about myself. I'm put together and don't feel like I am dressed for a sick day. I am dressed to be a strong, confident woman.

What do you do to make yourself feel put together and ready to conquer the day? Share in the comments!

Stop back Sunday to see if I achieved my 5 days. I will also let you know what my next 5 day challenge is! I'd  love to know if you have these type of challenges or if you want to follow along with my challenges! We can make reach our goals together!

Challenge me March..

Here we are again. We are at the beginning of a new month. A time where we all ask for a clean slate and new chances. We often blame a month for our misfortunes. But maybe we are looking at it all wrong.

Every night we rejuvenate our bodies, thus giving us a clean slate the next day.  We just need to learn to utilize our clean slates daily and be the best person we can be.

I am asking March to challenge me rather than be better. I need to start holding myself accountable for some of the "better" I want to see.

Today is Ash Wednesday and the start of Lent. I was baptized Catholic but haven't much practiced since I was a little girl. Today I am going to take the challenge of Lent to make myself better.

For 40 days and 40 nights I am focusing on my health and well being. I am giving up the foods I know don't agree with me, but I continue to anger my body with. I  also going to make it a point to give everyday.

I want to feel better in my body as well as in my choices. This challenge is not for selfish intentions. If I do not take care of myself, I cannot help those around me in need.

So challenge me March. Make me stronger.

What does your March look like?

Trish List signature

Ohhh October!

Well here we are again. Another new month with more goals to be had. At this point my goals are really more like themes. I have goals, they just spread further than one month at a time.

In September I decided to have a mic drop moment. Just go with the flow. Stop letting things eat me up. Just have fun.

I think I did okay.. Let's have a good at September:

I saved my brother for the last time. Sad story, but his life is so toxic right now, I can't have it anymore interfering with my own life.

I had my Bachelorette party. That equals fun. And I needed it so bad.

I went to the Great New York Fair for the first time and I ate all the fried things!

And.. I got married!

I think I did well for the month. Mostly going with the flow. Having some fun aND having the best day ever for my wedding.

Now for October. I want to live Fall to its fullest. Leggings. Hoodies. Smores. Wine. Halloween.

This is a magical time and I intend to live it up. My goal/theme will be being the best wife I can be while enjoying the magic in the air.

I'm expecting more blogging. Wedding series. Life recaps and updates. Projects. Cat pictures and stories. And possibly the return of my tea swap!

What are you looking forward to this month?

July Goals 2016

I am not even sure I really had any June goals at this point. If I did, I think they changed a lot. I was mourning. I was grieving. I was finding a new part of myself that needed to come forward. Because I learned a hard lesson in June, it also reminded me once again, that I need to take care of myself. I looked back at my July goals from last year and it was to have fun. I remember it not being very fun due to some, I guess drama? Things have slowly gotten to a better place, but still so much to learn.

July’s goals are going to be half about fun and half about me. I had lunch with a friend this week who reminded me that fun can also be about us. Something we enjoy alone without others involved. I know that sounds a little off, but I think she is right. She told me she planned one thing a week for self care for herself for the whole summer. It took some time to get put together, but she said it’s worth it now that it’s all done and planned.

Now that we have made it through the first half of the year, July feels like a turning point to me. Getting back on track for the rest of the year. I have put a lot of thought into what I want to work towards this month. Hopefully it can inspire me more. Get me out of the rut I feel like I fell back into.

Schedule “Me” time
I really loved the idea of putting one thing a week on the books for me and self care. Because it is Summer, and life gets busy, I decided to skip the next 7 week yoga course that I have been participating in since March. At the time I thought it was a good idea. Now I am thinking it may have been a bad decision. I miss it, and it kept me motivated. I am going to spend the next few days putting stuff into my planner and getting myself back into the groove of fun for me.

Read, Write, and Color
Back in February I challenged myself to write every day. I didn’t end up writing every day, but I came pretty close. I have fallen off that train again, so it’s time to get back on. I also want to pick up my reading, which I have done fairly well with over the past few weeks, but need to do a little better. Lastly I want to dig into some of my coloring items I got for Christmas.

Blog
I have been working on a lot of projects outside of the blog. I want to bring some of those to life on the blog and also continue the re-vamping I had planned for June. I want to start implementing my Random Acts of Kindness series as well as my stepmom posts. I owe some giveaway prizes as well. I promise I have not forgotten..

Find my Tribe
I have a few blogging buddies, but to be honest, with my inconsistency I have really lost the bond I used to have. I want to strengthen that again and get back into the support group. I really enjoyed having blogger friends. I want that back. Making it a goal!

I’m really hoping to reach all of these goals this month, although some may stay ongoing, because I want to feel like this space matters again. I want to know I matter again. The first person I need to persuade is myself.

Here’s to a month of fun and me time! What are your goals?

Weekly goals are built on dreams

Mondays are for dreamers right? Okay, maybe not for everyone, but when you're working on your dreams, everyday seems pretty magical.

I'm FINALLY ready to share my dream that's becoming a reality. For about 2 years now I have been dreaming of starting my own business. But not just any business, a subscription box business!

I may have hinted about this in the past, but couldn't decide on a concept that worked for me. A few months ago I was sitting in my car waiting for the rain to stop when the idea came to me. It was like a light went on and everything was super clear.

I am happy to announce The Kind Step Box; a self care subscription box curated for stepmoms. Now you nay wonder why I chose that niche, but if you read my post on becoming a stepmom you will understand.

I believe self care is the best medicine for dealing with stressful situations and for anyone who is a step parent, you understand the challenges that come with being in that role.

I am in the pre-launch stage and am hoping to send out my first box this fall! Right now I am working on collecting e-mails of interested people. I invite you to sign up if you or someone you know would benefit from the box. I am working with some really amazing women to bring some pretty great items to the first box. I want this box to not only offer support for self care, but some sassy, fun items as well. Let's be honest, we all need a good laugh from time to time.

I am hoping to have a sample box put together soon so everyone can see what to expect. In the meantime it would be really amazing of you guys to sign up for my updates. I am planning to start doing weekly updates soon!

You can find updates and enter your email here: The Kind Step Subscription Box

Thank you again, and I hope you all have a wonderful week!

PS: Lets all cross our fingers that I get my wedding invites out this week.. It's on the goal list..

May Goals 2016

Let’s talk about goals. April was dedicated solely to finding balance with this blog and where I wanted to go with it. As I have mentioned already this week, this blog is now 2 years old and I am starting out fresh.

May’s theme is ‘celebrate’. I want all of my goals to be light and fun. Nothing but laughter and happiness right?

So here’s what I want to accomplish:

  • Make lots of new pretty pictures for my posts (Isn't that photo I used up there by Helene In Between, beautiful?). I haven’t had a good photo shoot in a while. I will be away in Denver for 4 days starting this weekend so I am hoping for lots of photo ops.
  • Write a post every day to have a back log for those days when I forget to write something. It's always good to be prepared right?
  • Continue my yoga practice to keep my body light and happy. My body loves me for this. Now I just need to remind my brain.
  • Show you all what I'm made of and give you the amazing content I have been planning for over a year now. I want to do this and I can do this. May is my time!
  • It came to my attention yesterday that I am super close to hitting 100,000 page views. How awesome would it be if I hit that number this month? I am not setting this as a goal per say.. cause no pressure, but if you all wanted to ya know, help me out with this by sharing my blog and visiting as often as you can, I wouldn't hate it ;)
So what do you guys have on your plates this month? Any amazing goals to shatter? I think I'm gonna knock mine out of the park!

*The Trish List fun fact # 2: This blog started off as a once a week review blog in February 2014. I started blogging about all of the freebies I got int he mail. It then grew to a lifestyle blog by May when I decided I wanted to write about more than just products.

*Keep track of these facts.. there just might be a quiz.. which means.. giveaway in my world :)
