A busy weekend; Or was it? How much time are we wasting?

Happy Monday. I am coming to you from my desk at work (Baby bloobs nursery if I'm being honest) while I am pumping and trying to get stuff done before I start work. Oh the life of a mom. Also a good sign I didn't get any posts done ahead of time.. oops!

Today I'm tired. I am reminded that I love sleep. I am cranky when I don't get enough. Maybe it's the extra-extra pounds I'm carrying. Maybe it's a little bit of my depression rearing it's head. I'm not sure to be honest, but I do know I am not as easily motivated or cheerful when I am tired these days.

The weekend was hot and a little more busy than I anticipated. We did some cleaning projects on Saturday, one in which we completely emptied the freezer and refrigerator. Everything got scrubbed down. Lots of stuff got thrown out. It's like a brand new fridge in there. Even rick had to check it out...

On Sunday, Father's Day, we spent a quiet early morning outside on the deck drinking coffee and letting R open his cards. I get him a card every year from our cats. I am that nerd. See exhibit A:

We then ventured out on a mini road trip to my in laws. Baby Bloob does not do so well on longer car rides, so we are slowly going longer distances, and by longer I mean an hour and 15 minutes.

He did okay going, but was a screaming maniac on the drive back. We had to stop 2 times to calm him down. This requires taking him out of he car seat and cuddling him for a few minutes before strapping him back in.

We got home last night at around 7pm and between 730 and 9pm we had our stove catch on fire (everything is okay, just the stove suffered burns) and R fell in the driveway while playing basketball with his son. We had a pretty crappy ending to out weekend. Bloob fell asleep when we got home, so naturally he was up around 10, then 12, then 2. He just would not settle. He is currently wide awake and ready for the day. Mommy not so much. Where's the coffee?

I started reading a book last week that was inspired by the 100 Dream Project. While researching what other people had down as their dreams, I came across this book. It's called 168 Hours: You Have More Time Than You Think. It's by Laura Vanderkam. Laura mentions using the 100 dream project as a way to find out if  you are wasting hours during your week doing things you do not enjoy.

It is interesting to look at your week in hours, rather than days. You have 168 hours in a week, and if you are actually "billing" your time out, you can see how much time you are actually wasting. Laura recommends tracking an entire week, hour by hour to see how you really are spending your time. She explains you are wasting way more time than you think, and people who claim they work too much, aren't really working much at all.

It is quite an interesting concept to me. I feel like I have wasted a lot of my time scrolling on Facebook for the last few years. Time I will never get back. I am thinking about tracking my whole week. I have not finished the book yet, so I want to do that first. I think it will be interesting to see what my week really looks like on paper.

What do you think? Would you track your week out? Are you wasting more time than you think?

Let me know! I hope you have a wonderful week ahead!

All About the Weekend Vol 3.

I know it's not technically Monday, but yesterday was a holiday, so Tuesday is the new Monday? I mean technically it doesn't make a difference to me as I'm on maternity leave and every day is a weekend to me... sort of.

So even though I didn't have plans per say this weekend, it turned into a pretty busy couple of days.

On Saturday I cleaned the house. It desperately needed a vacuum and a mop. I swear having cats makes it seem like you never clean your house. Literally an hour after vacuuming there was litter everywhere again. We also went food shopping which was also pretty needed.

Sunday I got motivated enough to go through a large stack of magazines that has been taking over one of my book shelves. There were magazines dating back to 2016 still in plastic. I sorted them by name and then sorted them by month and year.

I literally have 5 or 6 different magazines that just show up at my house. I don't pay for any of them and they are in my name. This has been happening to my parents house for years. Magazines showing up in my name that I didn't order. I haven't lived there in almost 7 years and they still get magazines in my name. They have finally found me here in my new home as I have started receiving magazines last year.

I spend a good portion of Saturday going through and reading the Real Simple magazines cover to cover. I treated it as a self care item that kept me off my phone all day. I even took notes on things I wanted to remember and wrote down websites I wanted to visit.  It was a very soothing exercise for me.

On Sunday night I went to the gym for the first time since having Baby Bloob. It was a very surreal moment for me. It doesn't help that my gym got all new machines and things were all moved and not familiar to me. I had to look for things and that made going back a little harder. I took it easy as I have not been cleared yet from my doctor. I just did 30 minutes on the treadmill. The trip was mainly for stress relief and that was nice.

After the gym I experimented with making Turmeric Lemonade. I wanted to try something new. I let it sit overnight and served the 2 glasses to R and I on Monday as we were cleaning up and putting up our deck canopy. It was very hot and the drink was very refreshing. I added some of my fresh mint to garnish. It was delish!

We had friends over for food and conversation on Monday afternoon and then it was clean up and relaxing until bed. Baby Bloob went down easy to bed and we got cleaned up and I read my magazines. Even though it was very busy in a sense, I found it all very relaxing too. We have a clean house. We got to visit with friends. And I have found something to pass my time that keeps me from living on my phone.

It's all a win.

How was your (three day) weekend?

Namaste.

All About the Weekend Vol. 2

Whew, what a whirlwind of a weekend full of romance and royalty. In case you missed it, there was a royal wedding on Saturday. With my lack of sleep I completely forgot it was happening, but thanks to little man bloob, I was up for a feeding and got to watch the festivities.

I was glad I was able to watch, as I missed the royal wedding back when William and Kate married. This was was worth it though. So many little details that set this one apart from the traditional royal weddings.

Watching it took me back to my wedding day. A day I never thought would happen. I was 33 (Hey so was Harry! Wedding twins! Ha) and before meeting R, I was ready to give up on love.

My princess dress.

My mom always said I had too high of standards, but who wants to spend there lives with someone who is just okay? I wanted fire and passion damnit!

Thinking back to my childhood, I never wanted to be a princess and I didn't dream of my wedding day. My dream was to move to NYC and work for MTV. I was going to be a rock and roll kind of gal. Have a good time and never settle down.

Well that didn't happen, but I did intern in L.A. and attended some pretty rock and roll events. I also attended the Grammy's a few years ago, but that's a whole nother story. Oh and as you can see in the photo above, I did get married and I did feel like a princess. I never thought I could wear a poofy dress, but this dress found me and the rest was history.

So back to this weekend. Weddings. I'm gonna say it. I didn't like the dress. I preferred Kate's dress, but that's not to say Meghan didn't look beautiful. I like simple, but I felt it was too simple. Does that make sense?

This is supposed to be a weekend wrap of sorts, so let me tell you what else I did when I wasn't glued to my TV and couch watching coverage of the wedding.

I relaxed. That was nice. The annual plant sale happened. We decided this year to put our garden back in. We did one 2 years ago but the weather was so dry, it didn't do so hot. We skipped it last year because we were afraid of having the same problem, but it rained more. We missed it a lot, so we are taking our chances again and are putting one in.

On a side note, I got my mint so I can start garnishing my summer cocktails!

Such a nice weekend really. I got some sleep which is also welcome. So I guess all I can say now is, Bring it on Monday!

How was your weekend? Did you watch the royal wedding?

Namaste.

5 day Goal Challenge: Vol 6 + Weekend Update

I am totally slacking on my Sunday updates ya'll.. Let me just whip myself in shape real quick.. So this past weeks goals were to be better attentive to blogging comments. That meant replying to my own comments, as well as commenting on other blogs. I think I nailed this one. I had a little drawback when Disqus was not letting me moderate my comments and I was panicked. I then realized I could moderate from my emails on my phone. Problem solved!

So for this week, I have to choose something because it needs to get done, not because I want it to get done. I need to practice yoga EVERY. DAMN. DAY. I graduate in 2 weeks and have 3 weeks until my class I need to teach to get my certification. AHH! It came so quick! So you may not see me as much this week as I NEED to make this a priority and get it done.

I am doing a little side goal of food I consume this week. I need to get back to a better diet. My body really hates most foods right now. I know what they are and I continue to eat them. So, it's also a kind of need goal, rather than want goal. It needs to happen. I'm tired of feeling icky.

Okay on to other topics.. I finally got to visit with my parents this weekend. I have not seen them since early February. They got a new puppy in January. We visited to see him. He has gotten so big since then! He was also less scared of us which was nice. It was a beautiful day yesterday. Not a cloud in the sky. I didn't want it to ever end!

Alas, here we are. Monday again. Back to the grind. I am happy the sun is shining. I need to take some photos today for my Stitch Fix that arrived on Saturday. So many pretty things! I am glad it is sunny so I can get that done.

I hope you all have a wonderful week!

5 day Goal Challenge: Vol 5 + Weekend Update

Soooo.. This should of gone up yesterday, but it was Easter and I was having the best day ever, so I kind of slacked off about being on the interwebs. But you know what? I don't regret it at all. It was a day of pure bliss for me, and I can't apologize for that. So let me talk about my goals real quick and then I will tell you all about my amazing weekend.

For those of you who are new, I am working on 5 day goals to reach bigger goals. Sometimes long term goals can be tricky and you need to get little things in order before you get there. Each week I share my challenge and then normally report back here on Sunday to let you know how it went. I invite you all to join me on this goals. We can support each other as we go!

Last week I challenged myself to get outside every day. Even if it was just 5 minutes. I am happy to report that I made it outside and enjoyed wayyyyy more time than 5 minutes. It was glorious to feel the sun on my face. The warmth of the sun brought me comfort. I just really loved connecting to the Earth. This is something I need to continue to do to keep my well being strong and happy.

Now for this week, I am going to focus on blogging goals. I am going to be more attentive to my comments and commenting on other blogs. I kind of lost that aspect this past week. It was not because I was ignoring anyone, I just got lost in the beauty of disconnecting. The other part was work was super busy and I had no chances like I usually do to read during work hours.

--------------------------------------

Now onto my weekend.. I had Good Friday off and I spent the day catching up on yoga reading, basking in the sun while my cats frolicked outside, and just enjoying Spring in all of it's glory. I also had a meeting about a potential business opportunity. More on that later as things unfold.

Saturday I spent the whole day with my yoga family. I always love these weekends. I am surrounded by love and positivity. I had many breakthroughs and even shed some tears. I felt so loved and supported as I was able to share some of my darkest regrets and secrets. I was able to let them go knowing I was forgiven by these wonderful people.

Easter Sunday was amazing for me. We had a later start for yoga, due to the holiday. I had breakfast with my love out on our deck in the sunshine. We cleaned up the house a bit, making it feel so warm and cozy. I took a walk to enjoy the nice weather. I went into yoga where I taught an impromptu 30 minute yoga set to a classmate in which I felt very confident with, which is all so new to me.

I had a vision of what I wanted to do with my yoga once I graduate. I am so excited about my plan and again as things unfold I will share it all with you guys! I am just so excited for everything that has been shown to me during this journey. I cannot say it enough. It is so refreshing and pure.

I hope you all had an amazing weekend and I would love to hear about your goals if you are following along with me! Happy Monday!

Monday, Monday..

I haven't done one of these in awhile, so I figured I'd tell you all about my weekend! Exciting right? Let me hear those ooooh's and ahhhhhh's.

I had absolutely no plans on adulating on Saturday for the most part. I wanted to become one with my couch, but the universe had other plans for me. I wanted to do a mini photo shoot with my first ever Stitch Fix box, because I needed to send it back today. I was putting on my face, when my phone rang.

My bestie who was moving out of state for a new adventure called me in an anxious mess asking me for my help. Of course I couldn't say no to a friend in need when all I planned to do was sit on my couch. We made a deal. If she took my photos for me I would be at her disposal. It was a win/win in my book.

Here's a sneak peak of one of the photos. She did awesome, don't you agree? Make sure to tune in later this week for the full photo shoot and first impression of my first ever fix!

It was a bittersweet day though. This was my last time hanging out with my bestie for awhile. She is off to new things 7 hours away. Thank God for Facebook video chat right?

Next on my weekend adventure was visiting my parent's in Pennsylvania on Sunday. They got a new puppy about a month ago and I still hadn't met him. I was so excited to meet the new baby. He was everything I could of hoped for, and more.

He was tiny and cuddly and just all around cute. What's not to love. he laid perfectly in his little bed and slept for a majority of the visit, but he was very shy. My parents reassured us that he was normal a destructive little machine. Maybe we will see that next visit?

In the meantime, here is a cute photo of the little guy.

So yeah that was my exciting weekend. Don't forget to go answer my pondering question from Friday for me. I need it for an upcoming project. I promise it only takes a minute and it will be very helpful to me.

Have a great week ya'll!

Moving past the eclipse

Is it just me or did the blood moon throw everyone off this week? This has been one of those weeks for the record books. And not the good type of records! I think I have spilled more food on myself, had more arguments with R, and less patience at work than I have had in years! It was sure pretty to look at but, man is it reaping some havoc on us!

Weekend

Enough of that though... In hopes to move on to better things, R and I are heading out of town for the weekend. We haven't had much time for that this year but it is much needed. With the wedding planning and temper tantrums in between, life has been pretty wild. We will be headed to the Allentown, PA area for the Yuengling Octoberfest! I am pretty stoked to spend some time at a festival. So many amazing vendors and of course the beer tastings! Anyone else going?

Make sure to follow along on Instagram! I love to share what I'm up to exclusively to my Instagram followers. We are also planning to stop at another festival on Sunday before heading home. I absolutely love the Allentown area. So much to do!

What are you doing this weekend?

The Uninspired Blogger

Monday always strikes me as a day to start over and make good from anything that happened last week. This mostly falls into the work category for me as I always seem to leave the negatives of my work week in my office Friday afternoon hoping Monday will be better. This week I am not as thrilled about Monday coming around, as it means change. I don't do so hot with change lately.

If you followed me over the weekend on Twitter and Instagram you saw little peaks into what I was up to. Moving. This isn't something new for me, as I was a military kid and embraced it as a child. Today this marks my 4th move in 3 years since moving to New York.  A new chapter to me and R's lives as we join households. This should be exciting right? I am feeling more overwhelmed then excited.

I am really exited to be living full time with R as our lives change together, but on the other hand there are going to be a lot of challenges in the upcoming months. One of those challenges is children. I am joining households with R and his 2 boys who he has every other week. The next challenge is finding another home by June so we can have more space. Yes that will take me to FIVE moves in 3 years. Is my hair gray yet folks?

With all of this excitement going on in my life, I feel very uninspired lately. My ideas are not flowing as smoothly as they were just a few weeks ago. (I did write most of those puppies down though!) I am hoping the change won't take to much out of me, so I can come back stronger then ever here with all of my new ventures. I still want to keep bringing you all local posts. I don't have anything exciting this week due to all the moving shenanigans. I will be launching a new design in the next week, which I am very excited about.

I am hoping with all of this change will come clarity for my future. Today is the first day of the rest of my life. I'm gonna hang in there if you guys will. Deal? I am so grateful for each and every one of you. Now tell me about your crazy moving stories, or what you did over the weekend. Inspire me.

Bucket List cross offs

I normally don't do a wrap up of my weekend, but because I crossed off so many things on my "vacation in my city" bucket list, I needed to talk about them! Friday was also exceptionally wonderful. I also normally do not post on Tuesday's but I really wanted to do this amazing link up yesterday, so I had to move this over to today. Lots of exciting things going on all around!

First things first. Remember when I posted that internal interview post back in early July? (If ya don't click on the link silly!) On Friday I got official word that I GOT THE JOB! Ahhh! This is wonderful news because I needed a raise like nobodies business and I can do my current job in my sleep. I don't have an official start date yet but I am thinking by mid August I should be taking on my new duties. I am so excited! Okay now onto my bucket list cross offs as promised...

The first thing I accomplished on my list was seeing 3 plays. A few weeks back I went and saw Shakespeare's Love's Labour's Lost. It put me on a kick to see more plays because there are so many wonderful options in my area. I saw that Little Shop of Horrors was playing locally and REALLY wanted to see that. I went out to lunch with my boyfriend on Friday and saw an advertisement for it and realized that Saturday was the last showing! We immediately decided that we wanted to go that night. The theater that was hosting it is a small venue where no seat in the house is a bad seat. We had seats off to the right and had a great view of the stage. The play was more interactive with dancing and singing around the whole  venue. It was fantastic and I am so glad I got to experience such a well done show in my little city!

Quick fact:
Little Shop of Horrors first came out as a movie in 1960 and then was adapted into a musical in 1982. The movie was then released again in 1986 which was adapted from the 1982 musical. Lots of fun history here and a big cult following!

On Saturday was the first day of the Route 90 50 miles yard sale. I have never been and it is a yearly local event that happens on the last weekend of July.  This yard sale started back in 1988 and has grown along the scenic byway or Route 90 in central NY.  It now hosts up to 500 sales making it a fun day event where you can score some great deals. You can also come across some interesting things. I wish I took more photos of some of the stuff I saw. Next time! The road was packed with people and cars so you really need to pay attention to where you are going. I was only able to spend about an hour on the route, but I scored some awesome pasta bowls for only $0.75! Can't beat that deal!

After braving the crowds of the yard sales, we went home and relaxed before heading out to play number 3 (Number 2 for the weekend). We decided on the last night of the showing of Hamlet. Another Shakespeare goodie! If you are ever in the Finger Lakes area in the summer look in on the Cornell outdoor plays. They are cheap (Only $10) and are very well done. You bring your own chairs (or make it a picnic and bring blankets), food, and beverages. It is a night of fun, food, and entertainment outside.

Sunday was a sleep-in kind of morning. I rolled out of bed at 9am and got ready to meet some friends for brunch! This ended up being another bucket list cross off because they took us to a lovely cafe/winery that we have never been to. We arrived to find a half hour wait before being seated. This was the best news because if you were there for brunch and had to wait, you get a complimentary wine tasting. We got to taste 6 wines and I fell in love with the haunting flavor of Apparition. This sucker was coming home with me one way or another. We headed on into brunch and the food was also amazing. What more can you ask for on a Sunday? Brunch AND wine? I'll take it! We had such a nice day. Great conversation with great people. Just what I needed. A relaxing day to ready me for another busy week!

All of these event I took part in this weekend have also created some new ideas for blog posts as well. This is why it is so important to live your life. It gives you things to write about. What do you do to keep your ideas flowing? Is the weekend your down time, or a time to cross off those bucket lists?

Make it great Tuesday everyone!
