Inspirational Quotes that Keep Me Going

Some days when things seem a little impossible I turn to some of my favorite quotes to remind me that things are okay. I have a pretty large file of quotes for different occasions that I pull out each month to remind myself that life is good and that I've got this when things go a little south.

I told you all on Friday about my computer being fried from an electrical storm. I still have no word on whether anything will be salvageable, but they have been in contact and it's been one of those weird situations where they aren't 100% sure on what happened. I could let that get me down, but instead I set up my inspirational quotes for the coming weeks.

I thought I'd share one that stood out to me this week in case anyone else needed that little push to keep them going.

This quote sits with me for many reasons this week, but what really grabbed me was the part about doing the impossible. With a computer not fully functioning I am still able to do things like post on this blog. It's not impossible. You just need to work with what you've got and keep moving!

What's your favorite quote to keep you moving?

Journey into the unknown

I don't know if you have noticed, but there has been a different vibe around here lately. I am working on being a high vibe person. I want to translate positive vibrations into the universe in effort to keep drama and negativity to a minimum in my life. This of course sounds easier said than done, but I'm sure going to try.

Last week I mentioned I was going to meditate more, write more in my journal, and other things related to my own well-being. I am happy to report, over the weekend I did write, meditate, and smudged my house with sage to get rid of all negative energy.

I slept better this weekend and I felt like things around me were more pleasant. I did some yoga in a nice quiet space and it always amazes me how much better I feel after an intentional yoga session with my own thoughts. My body feels better and my mind slows down.

I've been struggling lately to really understand what path I should be on right now and what I am supposed to be doing. I know deep down what I want to be doing, but I have many things blocking my success right now and the self care items I am practicing for July (and everyday after) are going to help me get back on track.

This blog will be a little more related to all of this fun stuff for a while. Very inspirational with some fun stories and stitch fix posts here and there. I feel at home writing about the spiritual side of life and connecting deeply with yourself and others.

I hope you will join me on this adventure into the unknown, but a path that feels very natural to me.

Namaste.

Monday Inspiration

Do you ever have one of those weeks where nothings going right, and everything's a mess, and nobody like's to be alone. Woops quick Avril Lavigne break there. But seriously sometimes those weeks happen and there is really nothing we can do to make them better other than staying positive. For me, last week in my personal life was a complete hot mess. Blog wise I had an awesome week. I banged out some pretty great posts that I was really proud of. How does that seem to happen? Has that ever happened to you?

Because last week went so crappy I need to eliminate my negativity this week or else I will be back on the oreo and cheesecake diet. No kidding guys I had cheesecake and oreos everyday for breakfast and dinner last week. I was REALLY going for comfort food there. Because of it I feel absolutely horrible about my fitness and really need to step it up this week.

Here is some Monday Motivation to get us going for the week!

The story behind the photo

Some days I just don't feel like writing. I have a headache that won't go away, its cold out, and no amount of caffeine will keep my eyes open. Do you ever have one of those days? I figured instead of writing a whole blog about not wanting to write a blog, I would turn this into a positive post to get everyone through Tuesday. A few months ago I posted a photo with a quote in one of my inspirational posts, and thought today would be a good day to bring it back and talk about it a bit.

I took this photo one night when I was sitting on my balcony. It had just rained cats and dogs and then just like that, it cleared up. The sky was all kinds of pinks and purples. Absolutely stunning. It is days like this that reminds me; when the storm is over, the beauty will shine through. Turning this photo sideways and adding the quote really did it for me. It fit well with the words. If I had posted the photo how it was taken, it wouldn't have felt as significant.

Do you ever play around with photos you took? Create new ways to see the beauty in it? Tell me your stories behind the photos and make it a great day!

Win at life

Today's post inspiration comes from the September issue of Self Magazine. I know I have said this A LOT lately but I am making changes both on this blog and in my personal life. (There should definitely be a drinking game for every time I say changes :p). Back in May when I started this blog, I also signed up for a gym membership. That lead me to having a  little series on fitness. I really enjoyed doing that, but to be honest I have fallen off the fitness wagon.

I was not feeling well and ran into a few health issues, so the excuses ran rampant. The gym got put on the bottom of my list and because of it, I can feel the consequences. I have gained weight, my skin is a mess, and I just don't feel "good". Circling back to this months Self Magazine, everything about it was inspirational to making positive changes.

On the front cover in big letters it says WIN AT LIFE. That statement alone motivates the crap out of me. Editor in Chief, Joyce Chang wrote a segment about the power of change.  She goes into talking about why it is so important to stop and listen to your body, even when life gets crazy and you want to jump into overload. She also encourages you to step out of your comfort zone and let your body guide you. I feel like its those little things we all seem to forget.

Being healthy, both physically and mentally can sure help in times of stress and overload. This is why I have decided to follow Self Magazine's 7 day detox. Now I know, when we hear the word "detox" we tend to think of things like pills, teas, and juices. This detox is a little different. It reminds me more of a wellness detox for life. I felt like this was a good way to get myself back on track and thinking with a clear head. I am on day 3 of this detox and I wanted to share a few things I have been doing.

Move Your Body
Take the workouts down a notch and do 3 days of light cardio. This will help flush out toxins and rejuvenate the body.

Go Vegetarian
Start every morning with a smoothie. They are packed with fruits and veggies to give you all kinds of good nutrients. Eat clean with every meal. Make a 450 calorie lunch and a 500 calorie dinner with vegetarian options. I have not been hungry and all the meals I have made have been really good!

Quiet Your Mind
Stress causes a lot of our health issues. This part of the detox encourages you to meditate at least 10 minutes everyday. It also encourages getting 7 to 8 hours of sleep every night. Ridding stress and getting enough sleep helps keep the belly slim.

I'm really enjoying this program. I am feeling less hungry and I feel more energetic. I am going to start writing wellness updates on Wednesdays. An unofficial series. Just a place where I can share with you guys what I'm up to and hopefully can inspire all of you to join in.

Have a wonderful Wednesday! Be Inspired!

Learn to dance in the rain

It's Tuesday night and a big storm just blew through here in central NY. I always love the sky after a storm. It's so clear and free of all things bad. It gets me thinking about life and how the storm is metaphorical to a human life. We are always waiting for a rainbow, but no one ever wants to have to go through the storm to see it. This brings me to one of my favorite quotes by Vivian Green:

“Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass...It's about learning to dance in the rain.”

We can never be sure of what's coming up around the corner but if we live in fear of our own destiny we may never really live. Today is a gift. Get out there and live it to its fullest. Come to terms with the things you cannot change. Be thankful for the life you have. That storm that came through could have caused a lot of damage, but you are still here. Breathing. Making memories. Someone else may not of had the same chance.

Even when your world gets turned sideways, look at the beauty. It's all around you. There is always something there to pick you up.  I am going to live that life today. I hope you will join me.

Happy Wednesday my friends :)

#TBT - Kinda

A little over a month ago now I decided to move my blog from Weebly over here to Blogger. I am really happy with Blogger and all it has done for me in the past month, but I am still a little sad that my very first blog posts in the blogosphere did not get to come with me. I have decided to do a few "throw back Thursday" posts where I will feature an old post. I feel it is only fair to them. Yes I referred to my posts as "them", but these were my first steps into the world with my words and I feel some of them deserve to shine again over here at my new home. This week I am going to post one of my last posts before moving, so its only just over a month old. Oddly enough it was also posted on a Thursday. So without further adieu, an old new post!

You Can Find Inspiration In The Weirdest Places

I was having a hard time deciding on what to blog about today. I really didn't want to talk about the vehicular manslaughter that occurred this morning when a bunny jumped out in front of my car. I am still angry at myself for that. I got to work and wanted to think happy thoughts to get my mind off the horribe drive in. The first thing I did was check my email.

I don't know about you, but junk mail is off the hook these days! I'm pretty confident that 98% of my daily mail is junk and spam. I enter a lot of sweepstakes and such, so I shouldn't really complain but omg! As I was weeding through the 10,000 junk emails for the 3 I actually wanted to read something caught my eye. An email subject said, 'This email will inspire you'. It got me thinking. Junk mail has a very good way of pulling you in to read them. Make you almost click on that link before you come to your senses and move on. That email wasn't all that inspiring by the way, but it did inspire me to write this.

Next time your blood pressure is rising as you weed through all that junk stop a minute to read some of the subject lines. That email about losing 20 pounds by Memorial Day probably wont really help you lose weight, but It could inspire you to write about your fitness tips or maybe start your journey to weight loss.

That email that will promise you the top 10 tips on revamping your living room could inspire a blog on your own livingroom and your decorating tips.

Or perhaps that email about that hot date you need to take can inspire a date night for you and tips you would give on making it a magical night.

I always strive to turn anything negative into something positive. You will never get rid of spam 100% so embrace it with new ideas and inspirations for your everyday lives. It sure took my mind off that poor bunny this morning.

Make it a great Thursday!
