Transition to Fall with Stitch Fix

Welp, it's happening guys. Summer will soon come to an end and Fall will be here. Not that Central NY got the memo. It's been pretty Fall-like here all week.

I was initially going to do a 6 month follow up for Stitch Fix to show you all of the items I've kept since starting with them back in February, but then had more fun turning all of the Spring/Summer items I got into Fall transition pieces.

I figured that would be a much better post. Don't you agree?  So here we go.. Fall transition style with all of my Stitch Fix keepers.

For those of you unfamiliar with Stitch Fix, it is a monthly clothing subscription where you get a personal stylist to send you 5 pieces according to your profile. You have the opportunity to write your stylist a note each month further customizing your fix. You pay a $20 styling fee each month to receive the fix, which is then deducted from the cost of anything you keep from your fix. If you keep all 5 items you also receive a 25% discount. Pretty great right? If you have interest in trying out the fix, I would appreciate it greatly if you used my affiliate link.

Fix 1: February 2017

My first fix was pretty great. I did not keep everything, but I did do a full review on my first fix. Make sure to check it out to see how I styled everything then in the winter verses my keeps for Fall transition.

I paired the Gilli Hilda printed aline skirt with my hubby's purple polo top and a pair of purple converse sneakers to bring together this back to school outfit.

Also from this fix I kept the 41Hawthorn Aiton grommet detail blouse. I paired it with a pair of bootcut jeans and boots. Perfect for those mild days that turn into chilly nights!

Fix 2 - March 2017

Fix two came at the best and worst time. I did not write a post on this one as I was dealing with Cal. If you don't remember Cal, that was the kidney stone I was passing. Lovely right? Anywho...

I kept two pieces from that fix. The two have become one of my favorite outfits. This beautiful Pixley blouse with elephants and a pair of Just Black skinny jeans in this beautiful turquoise color. This outfit just works for all seasons in my opinion. The rich color of the jeans takes this into Fall. You can add a pair of riding boots and a scarf to really get that Fall feeling!

Fix 3: April

For my April fix I specifically asked for pieces as I was going to a wedding in May and needed some options. It was a casual wedding in the PA mountains. In May you can either get 100 degrees or 50 degrees depending on the day. I asked for Maxi dresses, a cardigan, and a spring jacket. This is the fix where I was so impressed with my stylist that I requested to keep her moving forward.

Here is what I kept:

This Wisp Pamala maxi dress was gorgeous. I ended up wearing this to the wedding as it is a bit dressier, but can also be dressed down. It is the perfect Fall dress, with its bright oranges and navy blues. This dress would be perfect with a denim jacket and a pair of boots.

I also kept this comfy Loveappella Carlita maxi dress and Absolutely Acada hooded cardigan. Together they are taking me into Fall. During the day I can wear it to an outside event and cover up with the cardigan as it gets chilly throughout the evening.

Fix 4: May 2017

May's box was a miss for me, but I did ask for a romper and this RD Style Bryanna romper showed up. I did not blog about this box as it was underwhelmed and a lot of the pieces did not fit properly.

I paired the romper with a scarlet red cardigan and black wedge booties. Such a cute back to school outfit. I think this is one of my favorite outfits for the Fall!

Fix 5: June 2017

I have to admit, this last outfit isn't as Fall, but it does have some rich oranges and yellows and it does make me think of Fall. I have been rocking this Pixley Palacio scoop neck tank and Kut From The Kloth Roxanne drawstring linen shorts. Just for fun I added some red Keen sandals that have some similar colors in the accents. I can see myself wearing this right into September while the weather figures itself out.

Fix 6 - July 2017

I absolutely loved my July fix. It had so many Fall colors and I was not able to keep everything I wanted. I did however blog about the fix with photos of all the items for your viewing pleasure. I kept the lovely Octavia Brooklyn crossbody bag that easily transition into fall. The beautiful teal color is amazing and screams Fall to me! This bag will sure get a lot of action.

So overall I have had a pretty amazing experience with my first 6 months of Stitch Fix. I have already received my August fix and can't wait to share with you this 5/5 fix! That's right, I'm keeping it all baby! Stay tuned for photos next week!

So what do you think of these Fall transition outfits using my fix keeps? I sure had fun photographing them so I hope you loved them as much I do!

Namaste!

Fall Bucket List 2016

Now that it's FINALLY starting to feel like Fall around here (I swear the Powers That Be were listening when I prayed every night for Fall weather on my wedding day 2 weeks ago (It was perfect by the way.) I figured I would make a real bucket list of things I want to do this time around.

I always seem to write down everything I want to do and forget and then it ends up Winter and I'm like.. "wow I sure dropped the ball on those fun ideas". So let's not let that happen again this year.
  • Attend a college football game - I have only attended high school football games at this point and since my hubby enjoys his college ball, and has gotten me into it, I really want to go to one.
  • Star gaze: Fall is the time of year where we get crisp skies. Perfect time to check out the sky and the stars. The next meteor showers are the Orionids which peak on the night of October 21st.
  • Apple picking: I went for the first time 2 years ago and I loved it. For some reason we did not make it last year, but I am making sure it happens this Fall!
  • Fall photos: Me and R just got married, and I want to start doing regular photos. I will be doing them myself, so this will be cost effective and fun all at the same time.
  • Hike: Summer is fun to hike, but it gets REALLY hot. Fall is one of my favorite times to hike. You get exercise AND get to take in the Fall scenery without suffering from heat stroke.
  •  Eat all the Fall foods: I love comfort food. I can't wait to make all the soups and chilis. Also pumpkin and apple everything makes my little heart flutter. Maybe I'll share some of my recipes this time around. Also Cider. That is all.
  • Halloween: No list is complete in my book without Halloween being mentioned. It has always been my favorite holiday. I can't wait to get out all my decor and plan a costume of sorts. I am planning to attend my local Wizarding Weekend. So many great things come from Halloween!
So much magic there. I'm makes me super nostalgic.

What's on your list?

Ohhh October!

Well here we are again. Another new month with more goals to be had. At this point my goals are really more like themes. I have goals, they just spread further than one month at a time.

In September I decided to have a mic drop moment. Just go with the flow. Stop letting things eat me up. Just have fun.

I think I did okay.. Let's have a good at September:

I saved my brother for the last time. Sad story, but his life is so toxic right now, I can't have it anymore interfering with my own life.

I had my Bachelorette party. That equals fun. And I needed it so bad.

I went to the Great New York Fair for the first time and I ate all the fried things!

And.. I got married!

I think I did well for the month. Mostly going with the flow. Having some fun aND having the best day ever for my wedding.

Now for October. I want to live Fall to its fullest. Leggings. Hoodies. Smores. Wine. Halloween.

This is a magical time and I intend to live it up. My goal/theme will be being the best wife I can be while enjoying the magic in the air.

I'm expecting more blogging. Wedding series. Life recaps and updates. Projects. Cat pictures and stories. And possibly the return of my tea swap!

What are you looking forward to this month?

I love Fall

Fall is one of my favorite times of the year. I love everything about it! The colors, the scents, the food, the clothes. It all makes me so nostalgic and it keeps the world magical. I look forward to wearing boots, wearing scarves, lighting yummy candles and of course who can forget pumpkin EVERYTHING! I have compiled a few of my favorite fall things to get me into the full fall swing.

Fall

1. I am in the market for a new pair of cute boots an I am loving the zip on the side of these lovely ankle boots.

2. Leaves by Bath and Body Works is one of my all time favorite fall scents. I am in desperate need for a new one as I burned mine completely down last year.

3. The pumpkin dutch oven is the cutest thing I have ever seen! I need this in my kitchen stat!

4. Next up, DD Pumpkin everything. My FAVORITE! It's even more exciting because it is already back!

5. Next up is fall eye shadow palettes. I love the warm colors and this one is AMAZING. I need to buy it!

6. Scarves! I own so many scarves and I can't wait to bust them out. I have a soft spot for plaids..

What are you favorite fall items? Do you splurge this time of year? I know I do!

October Thoughts

Hello October! Reasons why you are AWESOME:

I missed your sexy style. October is the best month for Fall. Fall is THE best season for fashion in my opinion because Hello? Sweaters, leggings, and boots..Oh my! It is my favorite time to shop because the longer the shirt the better and that covers that annoying little belly pouch I'm sporting. Shopping makes me happy and I tend to overspend. #sorrynotsorry. For this reason, you will be seeing A LOT more #ootd posts. Hooray!

I missed your picture perfect pictures. Here in the Northeast we get an amazing show every year. The changing leaves painting the crisp blue sky warms my heart. It changes everyday and makes me want to pitch a tend in the mountains with my camera and take pictures everyday. These lovely backdrops are perfect for family portraits and weddings. Get re-aquainted with your camera and get out there!

Football is in full swing by now and we are starting to get a glimpse at how our teams are going to do. Teams that sucked last year can be kicking ass this year and vice versa. It gives us a good reason to get together with friends, drink beer, and eat really unhealthy snacks. All the while having a good time! If football is not for you, get together with your lady friends while the men do all of those things I mentioned and drink wine instead!

PUMPKIN IS BACK! Everywhere you turn there is a new combination containing pumpkin. From coffee, to beer, to cakes, to smoothies. There is something out there for everyone. Pumpkin and pumpkin seeds are also very good for you. Play around with it and come up with something you like. Glob a little orange in everything you can (within reason) and join the obsession!

I love Halloween! Something about this day brings back the magical feeling of being a kid. I have dressed up and had a great time every year I have been on this earth. As an adult the magic may include alcohol and a sexy costume, but nostalgia sets in and I'm hooked!

I've missed using my oven! I really love to bake and make soups. I cannot turn them on for hours at a time during the summer or I will die of heat stroke. Now that it is getting cooler it's appropriate to turn on the oven on that dreary afternoon and bake your heart out. I went apple picking last weekend and now I can finally make something yummy with them!

Oh what a great month ahead! I hope it is just as magical for you! Follow along all month for fun Fall posts!

Happy October! I'm linking up with Treasure Tromp today for Treat Yo Self Thursday!

It's FALL! + Defining Lifestlye with Ash

Today is the first official day of Fall! I don't know what else could make a Monday be awesome! I have been looking forward to Fall and this weekend we just had definitely did a good job with the Summer to Fall transition. We had nice temperatures in the high 70's and low 80's and then it rained and got a little windy Sunday night. I think mother nature got it right for once! (At least here in central NY).

 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We all have that question we are just DYING to answer, but it doesn't ever seem to come. My new series allows bloggers to submitted their own set of questions AND answers in effort to get some stuff out there that they normally aren't asked. If this doesn't define the lifestyle blogger, I don't know what does. So sit back, relax, and expect some fun over the next few weeks!
 Today I am welcoming Ash who blogs over at The Grits Blog. I love Ash because she comes up with some pretty fun topics and her design skills are AH-MAZING! Make sure you stop by and check her out. You won't be disappointed!
(1) How did you come up with the name for your blog?
Ash: I am from the south - specifically, Texas, Georgia, and Florida. For the record, my blog's name, The Grits Blog, doesn't stand for Girls Raised in the South.
Anyways, I picked grits to represent my blog because it's the first thing that comes to mind when I think of home, other than my family of course. It's what I think of when I think of the south - and it's one way to let people know something quickly about me. Clever right?? #notreally
(2) What is the one thing you didn't expect to happen when you started blogging?
Ash: My obsession for designs! Since January I have changed my design about five times - FIVE TIMES! Crazy. Just crazy. I just finished a new one that I installed a few months ago - and I am already looking at designing another one. That being said, I will NOT install it until January - I am making myself live with this one for at least a few months.
(3) How did you get started with blog designing?
Ash: Another designer burned me, not only on my design but money-wise too. After that I decided that I would never let someone else be in control of my blog design - and truth be told, I like it to change it wayyyy to much - i.e. see whiplash here. So I decided to learn how to do it on my own - this meant countless, painful hours of googling and figuring out photoshop.That being said, it was worth it. It's become one of my favorite things to do and my creative outlet!
(4) How did you gain traffic/followers?
Ash: I think my biggest source of new readers has been due to two things: (1) advertisements and (2) decent content. I conducted a survey a few months ago and most of the people that found me were through my button being on someone else's sidebar or via guest post, then they stuck around because they like my blog.
(5)  you could offer one piece of must-have advice to an aspiring blogger, what would it be?
Ash: Don't worry about the stats. Build it and they will come! Meaning, focus on your content and focus on getting your name out there so that people can find you.
